Union hosts annual Music Festival

Music festival is coming to Union campus this week, starting today, Jan. 31, and ending in a cumulative festival performance on Feb. 2. Band and orchestra musicians from Adventist high schools across the country will gather for the weekend culminating in a concert by the festival band and orchestras. The music department is hosting this event, and most of the activities for the week will be held in the College View Church, including the performances.

From Missouri, Sunnydale Adventist Academy will be joining the festival, supplying their band and orchestra. Dakota Adventist Academy from North Dakota will also be joining the event with their musicians. Midland Adventist Academy will be coming up from Kansas with their band, and College View Academy is bringing their performers. Mile High Academy will be attending from Colorado, as well as Campion Academy.

For the musicians, rehearsals will be all-day Wednesday through Friday. Friday night, 7:30 to 9:00 p.m, will have a showcase performance, when the schools will perform individually. On Sabbath, there will be two performances, one at 11 a.m. for the College View Church service and the final and main performance at 5 p.m. There will be a special direction, with conductor Andelena G. Jackson attending and conducting the song she wrote, “Lullaby for the Martyrs”.

Union Campus will be extra busy with the bands and orchestras in the area, but many people are excited to attend the music festival. All performances are free to attend.
