Semester Overview: Upcoming Events

With the new year comes a new semester, new classes and new campus events. This semester, Union welcomes new and returning students alike to partake in the plentiful thoughtfully-planned events.

On a weekly basis students can look forward to building a spiritual community through the returning Connect Groups hosted by Campus Ministries, the Small Groups hosted by the Residential Life Team, Family Worship, UGather, and the weekly prayer time hosted by President Yami Bazan.

Students will have the chance to participate in an Ice-Skating Night organized by the Student Association on January 11. During the week of January 20-24, students will participate in Spirit Week to have some fun and share their school spirit. There will be a Splash for Cash celebration that Saturday night at the Reiner Wellness Center. January 29-February 1, Union will  host the 2025 Music Festival for participating high schools. Union students are welcomed and encouraged to attend their grand finale concert at the end of the week.

On February 9, the Student Association will host a Super Bowl party for students to watch the big game and cheer on their favorite team. Then on February 12th-15th, Union will  host their annual Basketball Tournament in which they will welcome Adventist high school teams from all over the country to participate.

There will be a Glow in the Dark Bowling Night on March 1 which will be hosted by the Student Association and Residential Life Teams. On March 21, there will be an art-exhibit at the Clements-Noyes Gallery in downtown Lincoln where students can showcase their work from the semester in a professional gallery.

April 3-6 will provide an opportunity for alumni to come back to Union and reminisce during ReUnion weekend. On April 25, there will be the 5th annual Intercollegiate Environmental & Health Sciences Research Symposium where students will be encouraged to share their research on these topics. Later in the evening, Union’s Spring Concert will take place as well. The Concert on the Lawn will take place on April 27 and will be hosted by Union’s ensemble and solo vocalists. To bring the semester to a close, the consecration, dedication, and commencement ceremonies for spring graduates will take place over the weekend of May 2-4.

With a busy semester ahead, Union hopes these events will give students an opportunity to take time out of their busy schedules and celebrate the things that make their work worth it: connection with Jesus, community building, the beauty of art and music, and the joy a little competition can bring. Here’s to a New Year full of new opportunities!
